File Scrub, cyber security software



General Features

  • Easy to install.

  • Online help facility (indexed and searchable).

  • Reviews files for hidden information, and File Scrub Trusted Copy provides trusted transfer of unclassified files from a classified environment to an unclassified environment.

  • Can open the file in its original application for closer examination of the keywords and phrases, pictures, and other nontext objects identified in the review.

  • Generates encrypted logs containing information about the review and transfer.

  • Ready to use on Windows 2000, XP, and Vista, Mac OS X, Linux, and Solaris.

  • Uses an identical interface on each platform—a window with tabs for selecting, reviewing, and transferring files (Trusted Copy only). Once you have used File Scrub on one platform, you can easily switch to another.

Review Features

  • File Scrub can review text files (including .html and CAD .dxf files); MS Office 2000, XP, 2003, and 2007 files (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access); WordPerfect files; and PDF files. To review Office 2007 files, you must have a Windows machine with Office 2007 loaded. Mac users can review Office X and Office 2004 files, excluding Access, and must have Office 2004 loaded (NOT Office X for Mac).

  • File Scrub allows you to select some review features; other review features are run by default on every file.

  • Hidden data stream detection.

  • Intelligent agent/malware detection.

  • Removal of extraneous file data—also known as metadata—from MS Office and PDF files.

  • Steganography detection in JPEG files using StegDetect.

  • Cropped picture detection.

  • Embedded object detection (Windows and Mac OS X only).

  • Compressed and encrypted file detection.

  • Keyword search using manually entered keywords or keyword file; searches for ASCII and Unicode characters.

  • Produces a cleansed version of the file.

  • Review of files using external tools opened within File Scrub (e.g., MS Office, CAD).

  • Records review results in encrypted, fully searchable log files.

Transfer Features (Trusted Copy only)

  • Transfer of cleansed file to qualified removable devices, including CD drives.

  • Designed for transferring unclassifed files from a classified environment to an unclassified environment.

  • Two-person DOE review rule.

  • Records transfer results in encrypted, fully searchable log files.
